Computerworld.com was named Web Site of the Year by the American Society of Business Publication Editors last night, and Computerworld also won gold awards in six editorial and design categories at ASBPE's annual awards ceremony in Kansas City, Mo.
The ASBPE judges recognized the entire Computerworld staff for producing the Web site, citing the "top-notch" content on the site and saying that its "clean look does a great job of organizing a huge amount of material."
In addition to being named Web Site of the Year, Computerworld earned a total of 14 other awards at ASBPE's National Editorial Conference. The organization's annual Azbee Awards of Excellence contest recognizes magazines, newsletters and digital publications for their editorial and design work.
"It has been another great year for awards for our print and online editorial content," said Matthew Sweeney, president, publisher and CEO of Computerworld. "I'm proud to watch our editorial team as they continue to raise their game by providing the most insightful and timely coverage in the IT industry."
Some of the other categories in which Computerworld was honored include the following:
- Original Web Feature — In Depth: Apple's Leopard Leaps to New Heights
- Interactive Community — Shark Bait
- Government Coverage in three consecutive print editions
- Original Research — 100 Best Places to Work in IT 2007
- Regular Column, Staff Written — Frank Hayes
- Editorial/Editor's Letter — Don Tennant
- Front Cover: News Tabloid (Design)
- Information Graphics (Design)
"It's always an honor to receive awards that recognize hard work aimed at serving our readership," said Don Tennant, vice president and editorial director of Computerworld and InfoWorld. "But the range of awards we received this year was especially gratifying because it affirmed that we're on the right track in responding to the dramatic changes in the ways readers expect media outlets to deliver information to them."
